BLCK SUN (2024)
BLCK SUN is an excerpt from a full-length audiovisual performance created and performed by new media artist AMIANGELIKA and music producer 1100. BLCK SUN is a metaphor for a state of one submerging into their inner chaos. By exploring the juxtaposition of themes of chaos and order, darkness and light from visual and audial perspectives, performers take the viewer on a journey through different spaces of the inner labyrinth. This piece is based on the artist's experiences of these contrasts.
What happens when one realizes there are no remnants of the old order?
The piece is experienced in spatial audio and recorded in real-time using analog synthesizers, digital instruments, and visual programming networks that interact to create a time-sensitive, immersive audio-visual environment that enhances how the audience perceives the story.
AMIANGELIKA
AMIANGELIKA is an award-nominated London-based new media and experience artist. Her practice revolves around exploring the interconnection between image and sound as well as machine-human interaction, resulting in performance-based and installation-based works. She creates fully generative, real-time rendered pieces that react to live inputs through audio or motion tracking sensors. With her work AMIANGELIKA aims to create immersive audio visual environments that help to reinforce and broaden the physical perception of a space.
Her main subject matter explores the mythology from a diverse range of cultures as well as the depths of metaphysics, believing they hold invaluable wisdom that deserves to be revisited and reimagined in the context of the modern world. Such as concepts as life and death, chaos and order, love and hate, light and darkness lay as a foundation for her work and she aims to translate them and stories around them through an experiential communication with the audience.
1100
1100 is the pseudonym of Erik Hanson, a London-based composer and music producer interested in exploring disparate sounds, patterns, and phrases and where they can converge to form a unified texture between the analog and digital worlds.
